How do you like your eggs in the morning? This jovial pick up line may have failed for many, but there is still something special about preparing some tasty eggs for your partner in the morning. Eggs don’t just taste nice, they are incredibly rich in nutrients as well and provide you with the perfect start to the day. Now I may not be a chef but my very good friend Nabil Fakih is, and he has been sharing with us recently how to cook some great egg recipes for breakfast. Nabil is something of a master when it comes to preparing eggs, and here are 5 recipes which you can use that will blow your partner away.
Poached Eggs
Poached eggs are very simple and incredibly delicious, yet many seem to have something of a fear of cooking these tasty little fellas. Keep things simple when poaching eggs and don’t bother with the tools or gadgets which are on the market, claiming to ‘make it easier’. All you need is a pan of boiling water, splash a couple of drops of white wine vinegar in and then swirl the water before dropping the egg into the middle, give it 4 minutes and you’ll have a delicious poached egg.
Eggs in the Clouds
These are a real showstopper and whilst they are a bit more difficult to make, they are well worth it. Separate the white from the yolk of 2 eggs, and set the yolk aside. Whisk the whites until they form peaks and pre-heat your oven to 190 degrees. Place greaseproof paper on a baking tray and layer the whites on top, creating two ‘eggs’ with holes in the middle. Cook for 15 minutes until slightly browned at the edges, then for the last 5 minutes of cooking drop the yolks in. If you wish you could add chives and bacon bits to the egg white mix.
Breggs
Sometimes you just want a nice and simple breakfast that is going to fuel you up, which is why these toasted ‘breggs’ who’s name we have totally made up, are the perfect choice. To make these you simply need a slice of thick bread, toasted for less than a minute in the toaster. Cut a hole in the center of the bread and transfer it directly to a hot frying pan. Leave the bread to fry on one side and then flip it over and crack an egg into the hole. The egg will cook into the bread so that you have one slice of gooey, toasted goodness. Top with a couple of slices of streaky smoked bacon and a slice of avocado on the side for the perfect finish, a delicious breakfast which will have you ready for the day in no time.
Simple and delicious egg recipes which will give you the perfect start to the day ahead, why not give them a try.
