Have you been thinking about having a rhinoplasty but you don’t know enough about it? If so then fear not as this post is for you, with some answers straight from the horses mouth. Last year I was in the exact same situation as you, scrolling the internet to find out more about the procedure, the recovery time and the results to expect. My fears were allayed however when I discovered Stein Plastic Surgeryright here in Raleigh, NC. This clinic has the highest rating online and the 5 star reviews were what encouraged me to make an appointment with the incredible Dr. Adam Stein. Naturally I bombarded the surgery with questions prior to my rhinoplasty and I wanted to share what they told me with you, to see if it can answer some questions which you may have.
How Painful Is It?
The operation itself is not painful in the slightest because the surgeon will put you to sleep. You can take a heavy dose of local anesthetic but generally speaking this is only done for people who have health issues which prevent them being able to take general anesthetic. During the days after the operation you will certainly feel some pain but you can manage this with over the counter medication.
How Long Does It Take?
The actual operation takes between 1 and 2 hours, each case is different of course and it depends how much movement the surgeon needs to do. This procedure however is carried out undress of thousands of times per year so the technique and the method that is used ensures a quick operation.
What Can The Procedure Do?
A rhinoplasty can transform the nose into just about anything, it can make the nose bigger or smaller, it can also change the shape of the nose to make it straighter or more curved.
How Hard is The Recovery?
As mentioned the first few days after the procedure you will have a lot of swelling and bruising in and around the nose which will be painful and uncomfortable. The surgeon will recommend that you take a week off work whilst you recover but after just a few days you will start to feel better. To get an accurate picture of the results of the procedure, you will have to wait 3 or 4 weeks until all of the swelling and bruising has disappeared.
Any Other Side Effects?
The only other issues which you may run into are some headaches and a touch of nausea as well as the occasional light nose bleed. None of these are anything to worry about unless they become severe, in which case you should consult your medical professional as soon as possible to make sure that everything is above board. In 99.9% of cases the patient recovers with absolutely no problems at all.
