Two more WEC veterans have surfaced to make their Octagon debuts in early 2011 as former bantamweight champion Miguel Torres will be taking on Antonio Banuelos at UFC 126 on February 5, as a part of the big Super Bowl weekend event.
Heavy.com reports that the bantamweight bout will serve as part of the event’s televised main card on pay-per-view from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With new guidance under Firas Zahabi over at the Tristar Gym in Montreal, Quebec, Canada former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres (38-3) has seen improvements in his last bout as he snapped a two fight losing streak with a win over Charlie Valencia after back to back losses to the likes of Brian Bowles and Joseph Benavidez which Torres lost the title in the process as Torres looks to get right back in the title hunt.
As for Antonio Banuelos (18-6), he got right back to his winning ways as he was able to post a unanimous decision over Chad George at WEC 51 in September after coming up short to a decision loss to Scott Jorgensen back at WEC 48 in the month of April as his climb up the bantamweight ranks went down a notch prior to his last fight as a win over Miguel Torres would be a huge boost for him to get into a shot at the title as well.
UFC 126 will feature a middleweight title fight as Anderson Silva will be defending his championship against Vitor Belfort in the main event of the evening.
