We all know Thiago Silva is a tough son of a bitch, he fought through the pain of bulging discs against Rashad Evans at UFC 108 and almost knocked him out in the third round.

In a interview with Tatame.com the Brazilian said the UFC wants him to return in July, but Thiago says if it was up to him he would fight as soon as possible.

“I have four hernias, the doctors won’t let me to train ground, wrestling… Just physical therapy on the next six weeks”, Thiago said. If it depended on me… I want to fight as soon as possible, If it were for me I’d fight next week”, tells the fighter from American Top Team, who was called to be back to the octagon in July, but waits the authorization from medical department. “They (UFC) want me to fight in July, I don’t have a right date yet, but I don’t want to fight hurt again, man.”

I have to give Thiago credit for fighting at UFC 108, anyone who has cracked discs in their back knows it effects your whole life from the time you wake up until the time you attempt to go to sleep.

Some people can not even work, due to the fact sitting causes them pain. After seeing fighter after fighter drop off of the UFC 108 card like flies, I have to give Thiago his credit for sticking in there and giving the fans a show.

While Thiago did not mention a opponent or date in his return bout, I am hoping the UFC gives him a fight that will help him stay competitive in the light heavyweight division.

Hope he gets better soon…Hes always exciting to watch and with the fight against rashad you could see he was hurt. Couldnt move or aviod take downs. I got a feeling hes gonna be making a run to the top of that division if he can stay healthly.
