With the UFC 109 main event between active Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman waiting in the wings, there has been speculation that the winner of this bout may get the next shot at the light heavyweight championship which is to be decided by current champ Lyoto Machida taking on Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC 113 and with that said, Couture welcomes the opportunity should that be the case.
While speaking with MMAWeekly.com Couture agrees that both Machida and Shogun Rua are the top guys in the 205 pound weight class and would very much accept a title fight with the winner of that rematch if the UFC is willing to make it happen.
However, ‘The Natural’ is completely focused on the task at hand which is Mark Coleman as he looks to get his last few days of training camp to get ready for the next big fight in his storied career.
Even though this fight did not happen when it should have back in the old UFC days, it is still going to be very interesting to see just how to wise veterans of the sport go about taking each other out in order to remain on the road towards what could be a shot at the title once again. What do you think?
