Donald Cerrone is one of the WEC’s best lightweight fighters, but has to get passed Ed “9′mm” Ratliff” on December 19 to get back into title contention. There are also several other fighters in the mix at lightweight, so Cerrone could be forced to wait a while for a title shot.

Cerrone spoke to “Ground and Pound Radio” that he intends to drop down to the 145 pound weight class after he faces Ratliff.

aldo“I’m going to call out Jose Aldo and drop down to 145,” Cerrone told MMAMadness.com’s Hector Castro on Tuesday’s episode of The Ground & Pound. “I’m really looking forward to that. I’m not running away from the 155 lb. weight class. I’m going to stay at 155 but just also going to fight at 145.”

Cerrone also went on to say that he would fight any of the top fighters in the weight class, except his teammate Leonar Garcia.

I’m not going to go down to 145 forever,” he said. “I’m just going to go down and dabble in there. I’d like to go Jose Aldo, Mike Brown would be a fun fight, Urijah would be a fun fight.
“Anyone at 145, I will fight. The only person I won’t fight is Leonard Garcia, who is my best friend and roommate. So I can’t take that fight but besides that… Fair game”

Cerrone also admitted that he normally walks around at 150 pounds, so the weight cut should not effect him and he could easily make the weight. I do not know if the WEC will be interested in seeing one of their top lightweight’s drop down, but it could make for one hell of a fight.
