There was a lot of speculation that a report which stated that UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s elbow was injured and required surgery which would keep him sidelined until 2010 was a ploy to avoid fighting contenders Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt. As we reported to you last week his manager Ed Soares shot down Silva’s injury rumors and stated his client is healthy and ready to fight now.
In a new interview with Fighters Only Magazine the champion confirmed he is not injured and is ready to fight in 2009.
Silva also reiterated that he is ready to fight Frank Mir next if the UFC wants to book the fight. Something that UFC president Dana White said is not a option in the Middleweight champions future.
We know that means Anderson Silva will fight again this year, but who is another matter. There has been some speculation that he could meet up against welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre, but Dana White has stated that he does not want to book that fight due to the size difference between the two champions.
We know that Dan Henderson is holding out for a new deal which will also force a log jam in the middleweight division and Anderson wants Nate Marquardt to fight him before they meet in a rematch.
So, who the hell is Anderson Silva going to fight next?
