A possible Welterweight bout is being talked about between Korea’s Dong Hyun Kim going up against Jonathan Goulet of Canada for the historic UFC 100 that was officially announced earlier today by the organization for the month of July at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada as both fighters are looking to bounce back into the wins column at the same time.
According to a Korean website MFight News through translation with Yahoo the matchup is slated to be taking place at the July milestone card which will most likely be apart of the undercard portion of the event.
Kim (11-1-1) who was previously unbeaten lost in a very close split decision to Karo Parisyan back at UFC 94 in the end of January, a fight which many people thought he shouldn’t have lost to begin with and will now be looking to get back on the winning track with a fight with Goulet on deck.
As for Goulet; he was trounced just :33 seconds into the first round in his last fight to Mike Swick at the UFC Fight for the Troops card this past December and was offered to face Tamdan McCrory in front of fellow countrymen in Montreal, Canada for UFC 97 this April, but was unable to get medically cleared in time to accept the bout due to a knee injury. Now Goulet is also in need of getting back on the winning side of his record and possibly retaining his spot on the UFC roster as well.
We will keep you up to date on this possible matchup as soon as the UFC makes any official word on the matter in the weeks to come.
