Could Stevenson be fighting for his job in his next UFC fight?
This past Friday night from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada was the XMMA 7 “Inferno” card which had former PRIDE commentators Mauro Ranallo and Bas Rutten calling the play by play and during the broadcast it was Ranallo that mentioned something about a UFC Lightweight bout putting Joe “Daddy” Stevenson going up against Mac Danzig. Ranallo also happened to mention that the loser of the bout would most likely be leaving the organization as well.In his own words, Mauro Ranallo called the fight a “loser leaves town” matchup between two Lightweights that have been on a losing skid as of late.
Stevenson who is a season 2 winner of The Ultimate Fighter has lost 3 of his last 4 fights losing to BJ Penn in a Lightweight title fight at UFC 80 in January of 2008, a loss to current Lightweight number one contender Kenny Florian at UFC 91 this past November and most recently to Diego Sanchez last Saturday night in London, England for UFC 95.
As for Danzig who is a season 6 winner of The Ultimate Fighter has lost his last 2 fights inside the Octagon to Clay Guida at UFC Fight Night 15 this past September and most recently to Josh Neer at UFC Fight Night 17 just three weeks ago in Tampa Bay, Florida.
As of right now this all just a rumor and speculation, but if any more news of such a possible bout comes to light we will let you all know as soon as possible.
