Both Karo Parisyan and Josh Koscheck have been close to title shots in the Welterweight division only to come up short in their attempts to secure number one contendership status. Now there is a rumor going around that the two may meet up and face off at UFC 98, on the Lesnar vs Mir card from Las Vegas, Nevada.
The MMA Fiend had the scoop and reported that Karo Parisyan reported the news while on an Armenian TV show, the rumors of Anderson Silva’s early retirement began that same way.
The report also mentions the fact that Koscheck also has to get passed Paulo Thiago at UFC 95 before this fight can become a reality.
Karo Parisyan recently won a lackluster (split) decision victory at UFC 94 over Dong Hyun Kim which many felt he actually lost. Parisyan now will have to make his case to get into contention with better competition after losing to Thiago Alves last year.
True or False: I will have to say that this has a small shot of being true because UFC 98 is going to get as many good fights as possible because of Mir vs Lesnar. Koscheck also recently signed an extension with the UFC and has said he wants to fight more during the year. It seems logical that the UFC would tell him about his next fight if he intends on fighting 6 times in a year. I would say the chances are 70% True and 30% False.
